Sometimes timing is everything. Last week HUT came down with some sort of a 24 hour bug and I thought that Ellie had narrowly escaped it. Then Saturday morning hit our house hard. I was woken up at 5:30am to a poor little girl covered in puke.
It just so happens that I received a box of diapers, wipes, hand soap and toddler toothpaste from The Honest Company (gratis) on the same weekend when I'd need some natural products to help get this family back to it's normal state of health - including one severe case of diaper rash, Ellie's first.
Since I didn't ask for their healing balm, I used my tried and true diaper rash regimen (I'll write about that another day, if you're interested), and immediately switched Ellie to The Honest Company's diapers and wipes. Since they are more natural than our usual diapers and wipes, I figured everything I can do to heal up her red tush was in our best interest. Overnight things vastly improved. The diapers also seem a bit larger than our normal Target brand and a have lot more cushion, all which help with our overnight leakage problems. The wipes are much thicker and work SO much better than the first wipes I tried from The Honest Company a couple of years ago when HUT was a baby.
It also doesn't hurt to look at these diapers - I might have let her play around the house yesterday morning sans pants because, come on, peacock butt? To stinkin' cute.
And, just to be fair to both kids, while Ellie was given the diapers and wipes, I also got some great smelling hand soap for HUT (who feels it necessary to wash his hands times a day now that he can reach the sink with his step-stool) and some new toothpaste for him as well. Because maybe a good tasting paste will make the daily toothbrush battle a bit less difficult?
The lavender hand soap, truth be told, is probably moving to my sink. It's smells way too amazing to have HUT use it a bazillion times a day. And the toothpaste doesn't contain flouride, which is important seeing as 9 times out of 10 HUT just swallows it.
Ultimately, as a family who is slowly starting to clean up it's act for the environment, and I do mean slowly, these products make it a bit more simple for our transition. Natural, non-toxic products are what we're aiming for and The Honest Company pretty much makes it a one stop shop for all the things.
So, on to the fun part of this post! As part of the review, my little old blog gets to participate in a giveaway and you guys have a chance to win $500 in The Honest Company's products! $500 can go a really. long. way. on their website. And, again, who wouldn't want some of those cute diapers to look at on their tiny baby's bum?
And, if you can't wait to try the goods until the contest is over, The Honest Company is also offering my readers $10 off of a minimum purchase of $40 using the code Sway10off40 (applies to U.S. and Canadian residents only, one per customer. Valid on first-time orders only and expires November 17, 2013).
Here's all of the official giveaway stuff...

I have been debating buying Honest diapers for the newborn stage before we start cloth diapering our baby boy due in March. They are adorable and I like that they are more natural (which is something I have started to pay more attention to).
ReplyWe still have probably 5 or 6 months in diapers, and I've been considering the switch to Honest. Great giveaway.

ReplyOooh, I'll have to look into the toddler toothpaste. I just realized the Toms we're using has fluoride and my daughter never spits it out. Whoops!
ReplyOMG I love Honest! Their diapers are so cute, I hate covering them up. And the shampoo is the only one I'll use on Moira. I'd love to try out some of their other products... like you we're trying to become a more natural house... but it's slow going.
ReplyWould love to try Honest and what a fun giveaway!

ReplyWhat an amazing giveaway!
ReplyWe are trying to "go green" as well! I've actually been wanting to try these products out.
